A 29-year-old nurse who is the second Texas hospital worker to test positive for Ebola is “ill but clinically stable” and will be transferred late Wednesday to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

The announcement came only hours after the CDC confirmed that the nurse, identified by family members as Amber Vinson, had flown on a Frontier Airlines flight from Cleveland to Dallas.

The CDC also asked the 132 passengers on Frontier Airlines Flight 1143 on Oct. 13 from Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth to call the CDC at 1-800-CDC INFO (1-800-232-4636).

“We are preparing contingencies for more and that is a very real possibility,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said during a press conference Wednesday morning.

Various reports now making their way through social networks and alternative media sources claim that Nina Pham’s boyfriend may have been admitted to a Dallas-area hospital. It is not clear whether the individual was showing symptoms of the virus or if he has been quarantined as a precautionary measure. According to NBC DFW, “Texas Health Presbyterian is monitoring the patient based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocol.”

Leaked Snowden documents published by Laura Poitras and Peter Maass in The Intercept describe the NSA’s SENTRY EAGLE program describe six programs aimed at weakening the capacity of people all over the world to communicate in private.

Part of the SENTRY EAGLE effort involves infiltrating “commercial entities” with undercover agents — though it’s not clear whether these are US or foreign companies. If the NSA has put secret operatives into foreign companies — for example, cloud companies in the EU — this could change the calculus of non-US businesses that have moved their data-centers and operations away from American-based firms whom they fear to be secretly in cahoots with the NSA, a fear that was magnified by the revelation that RSA had secretly taken $10M from the NSA to fatally weaken its products.

Second case of Ebola in U.S.

The health care worker, a female nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, had “extensive contact” on multiple occasions with Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S., who died last week, Dr. Tom Frieden said in a press conference Sunday.

If the preliminary diagnosis is confirmed, it would be the first known case of the disease being contracted or transmitted in the U.S.
